SecturaFAB Weight Glossary

Weight appears in SecturaFAB in a variety of ways. Let’s explore the difference between unit rectangular weight, unit true weight, total weight, sheet weight, and unit nested weight.

Unit Rectangular Weight

The estimated weight of material needed to produce one part. Using a rectangle for measurement on intricate shapes like a star helps to quickly estimate the length and width of material needed to cut the part.

Unit True Weight

The exact weight of one finished part. Unit true weight is constant regardless of part quantity.

Total Weight

The sheet weight multiplied by the number of sheets needed to produce the total quantity of parts. The more parts being made the more material that is required therefore the higher the total weight.

Sheet Weight

The weight of an entire sheet or stick of material.

Smaller Sheet Size Weight = 327.17lbs

Larger Sheet Size Weight = 613.44lbs

Unit Nested Weight

Uses unit rectangular weight and sheet weight to calculate the total material used to cut each part. If you do not keep the remnant, the extra weight from the sheet is divided amongst the parts. If you keep the remnant, the extra weight is removed from the parts and the unit nested weight will be less than if you do not keep the remnant.
